The Musings of a Mummy

Outdoor Summer Days are best spent outdoors

Posted on October 23, 2018September 1, 2023

**Collaborative post**

Nowadays, it seems like all kids have a smartphone or tablet in their hands to keep them entertained for hours on end. Prior to these devices existing, kids would still get bored. However, the difference is that they’d find creative ways to have fun.

This is an experience that all children should be involved in, especially during summer days. Spending your days outdoors is great exercise and exposes you to fresh air. You tend to talk to each other more often and come up with fun games.

So, if you’re looking for some reasons as to why outdoor summer days are best spent outdoors, carry on reading below.

Improve Kid’s Social Skills and confidence

There are studies that have proven kids who play outdoors more often have an easier time when it comes to being comfortable in social settings. People who spend more of their time indoors have reported that they feel more introverted and lonelier. Kids who play outdoors more often are usually with other kids and interacting. As a result, their self-esteem is given a better chance of developing which helps them to be more confident.

Reduced Children Stress

Being outdoors in nature is an incredibly effective way to reduce stress. Studies have found that people who spend time in environments that are less urban seem to have diminished anxious feelings.

Music is another way to reduce stress and playing an instrument outdoors, like the guitar, is fun and therapeutic for all the family.

One of the reasons for this is that it takes you out of the indoor space that you’re so used to being in. As a result, getting a breath of fresh air can clear your head remarkably.

Kids Sports and Activities

One of the main activities that people love to get involved in when being outdoors is sports. There are so many different kinds of sports that you could choose from. You don’t even have to join a proper team and play professionally.

Setting up a small game of soccer or baseball among some friends can be a super fun way to spend a summer evening. Sometimes you might need to buy a toy or a game whooopsadaisy.com is a great place to look for something with in-depth comparison reviews. Another great lifelong sport your child can do or place is running. You don’t even need a specific plan, just take your child to a nice park or trail and you two can start jogging together. It doesn’t have to be much when you first start, just 10-15 minutes of easy running. If you and your son or daughter do this on a consistent basis you will develop a strong sense of accomplishment and it will become quite fun.

Quality Family Time

There’s something special about spending time outdoors with the family. You can go on long walks together or get involved in the gardening.

It helps kids and parents connect and talk about things that they may not have had the opportunity to do before. An outdoor activity among families is to go on bike rides. They’re tons of fun and ensure that the whole family get some exercise in!

Conclusion

If you’re a parent looking to get your child more involved in being outdoors during summer days, try leading by example. Kids love following what their parents do so you can use it to encourage them to be outdoors with you more often.

A useful reminder about the benefits of being outdoors and of spending family time together. Timetabling a weekly outdoor activity is important to get children used to it, even if it is just a walk in the park every week after Sunday lunch. Sharing outdoor sports is even better.
