Always Buckle Them Up
Getting out of the house with kids in tow always feels like a rush especially when they need the loo just as you are leaving and then forget their school bags but ensuring they are strapped in safely is your priority. It is helpful to ensure they are strapped in before you start the car.
Seat belts need to be fastened securely, untwisted when buckled up and pulled tightly in place. You should always ensure that your kids know the importance of safety belts so they can exercise extra caution too. At any age, kids need to be buckled up. You do not want them flying through the windshield or the window in case of an accident. You need to also ensure that bulky coats are removed before buckling up as these stop the belts from doing their job correctly.

When buying a car seat, check the height, age, and size specifications to ascertain that you get a suitable one – children should be rear-facing for as long as possible.
Check The Car Temperature Settings
People tend to get in a car in a rush and rush out the door the moment they get to their destination. The vehicle may be too warm for the child. When all the windows are rolled up, the car may become too hot inside. The heat can do severe damage if one stays in for an extended period. Before travelling in the car with your child, ensure that the car is well-ventilated and that it is not hot and remember never to leave kids in a car unattended.
Basic car maintenance
Before heading out in the car there are a few checks you should always do on your car, such as ensuring you have enough petrol, there is water for the washers, the oil is topped up and the tread on your tyres is OK.
For longer journeys, you’ll need to check car parts a little more closely – check the brake lights and indicators are working, check the wiper blades and ensure the brakes are fully working and are not worn – you may also want to get the air conditioning topped up.
