How To Keep Your Home Clean And Clutter-Free

Posted on March 25, 2025March 25, 2025

**Collaborative post**

Keeping your home in a clean state is often hard and it only becomes more challenging the more household members you add to the home.

Just keeping on top of cleaning a home can prove difficult, especially if you’ve not got everyone involved equally when contributing to the cleaning.

With that being said, here are some helpful tips to keep your home clean and clutter-free this year.

Declutter regularly

First and foremost, look at decluttering your home regularly. This is the best way of making sure you’re keeping your home free of clutter and rubbish that you simply no longer need. It’s surprising just how much stuff you can accrue over time, which is why you want to stay on top of decluttering where you can.

For example, you might want to spend the money and use a MW skip hire to help shift a lot of bulky stuff that would be otherwise difficult to throw out. By decluttering regularly, you’ll stay on top off all the mess that can come from having too much stuff in the home.

Establish a manageable cleaning routine

A manageable cleaning routine is an important one and so it’s good to look at what you can cope with as a household. At the same time, you also want to ensure that you’re spreading the responsibilities fairly amongst the family members or household members in general.

While there might be some who can’t do anything due to their age, there are certainly more than one in the household who can pick up a cloth or tidy up their own spaces.

Establishing a manageable cleaning routine is better than not having one at all, so look at what you could introduce.

Have a rule when it comes to your belongings

When it comes to your belongings, it’s worth having a rule or two put in place. One example is the five-year rule where if you’ve not used something for five years, chances are you don’t need it and you can get rid.

You may also want to set a limit on how many items of clothing you have, or how many of one belonging you can hold onto. This is a good way of helping declutter and remove stuff you don’t need from your home.

Be mindful of what you buy

Always be mindful of what you buy, especially when you’re making an active effort to keep your home clean and clutter-free this year.

When you’re out shopping, ask yourself when you pick up something to buy, do you really need it? You may want to add some extra questions to determine if the purchase is required or not and that way you might save yourself some money in the process!

Create smart storage solutions

Finally, storage solutions are certainly important to set up when it comes to a clutter-free and functional home. Look at how you can incorporate different storage solutions to make for a more clean space.

These tips will keep your home clean and clutter-free, as well as benefit your wellbeing and mindfulness too.
