If your mornings (or more specifically, the school run) is the most stressful part of your day, you aren’t alone. In fact, three out of four mothers find it more stressful than going to work.
Fortunately, there are plenty of steps that you can take that will allow you to master the school run, turning your family into a well-oiled machine. Read on to find out more!
A good morning starts with a good night
If you often feel as though you are running out of time each morning, you’ll find that your routine changes for the better when you start preparing for the morning the night before. For example, you should lay out each child’s
school uniform in their bedroom, so that they can get dressed as quickly as possible, and you aren’t turning the house upside down looking for their jumper. You should also encourage them to pack their bags for school at that time.
Make sure everyone goes to bed at a reasonable time
While you may all have a different ‘bedtime’ so to speak, making sure that everyone in your house goes to bed at a reasonable or age-appropriate time will also make the morning school run a lot easier. This is because you’ll feel better rested, making it a little easier to part ways with your bed.
Get up twenty minutes earlier than everyone else
Getting up a little earlier than the rest of your family will give you some much-needed me-time in the morning, so that you can then use it to work through your own routine. For example, it could mean that you can enjoy a nice, hot shower before people start banging on the door for their turn, or that you can develop a skincare routine.
Stop snoozing your alarm
While snoozing your alarm can feel like a great way to cheat the system and get a few more minutes of sleep, it’s rarely as beneficial as you think it is. In fact, it may actually leave you feeling more tired in the long run and make you late! As such, you should make sure that you get into the habit of getting up as soon as your alarm goes off.
Buy a car you can rely on
Whether you’re interested in hyundai tucson hybrid cars or something a little more old-school, buying a car that you can rely on is also key when it comes to mastering the school run. This is because you can then rely on your car to get you from A to B without breaking down, provided that you continue to take good care of it.
Keep breakfast simple
While you may enjoy spending time in the kitchen and cooking fresh, delicious meals for your family, it’s best to keep weekday breakfasts as simple and low-effort as possible. After all, you have limited time on your hands. For example, there’s nothing wrong with cereal, toast, or fruit bowls! Or even a quick and easy microwave breakfast.
