Top Tips for Decorating Your Home

Posted on March 22, 2022July 26, 2023

**Collaborative post**

If your home’s in need of some TLC it can be confusing to work out how to go about it, especially if it’s something that you’ve put off for a while. To help you, we have a list of top tips for decorating a home from a business that provides timber & mouldings in London.

Don’t Leave Any Stone Unturned

When undertaking a big renovation, it’s easy to forget about the minute details. Things like skirting boards and architraves that all feed into a room’s aesthetic and feel. If after your renovation something doesn’t feel quite right, try taking a picture and analysing what you can see. It will help you to see your home from the point of view of an outsider and find what you need to make the finishing touches.

Think Function

As you’re updating your home, especially if you are tight on space, think carefully about your furniture and its function. Are there any pieces that you could perhaps use for something else? The cost of your furnishings can soon add up and multi-functional pieces can really be your saving grace.

Mirrors

Lighting is key for creating open, airy, and tranquil spaces. Mirrors can help to illuminate rooms when there’s not much available. For a room that lacks windows or is very dim in general, try strategically adding in a few mirrors. It will also help to give the impression of a larger room.

Little and Often

If you’re planning on doing the work yourself, it can be a big undertaking. Unless you have the time, it can be difficult to work around your schedule and leave you flat out exhausted. Getting comfortable with the idea of not reaching perfection can help you to view your home renovation as a working project, take it easy and not rush into things so that you can make better decisions.
