How To Find The Perfect Living Room Accent Chair

An accent chair is one of the essential decors for the living room. What you choose will either make or break the look of the room. Choosing the right chair can give the interior a fresh look. Choosing the wrong one, however, can give a different effect.

Here are a few important things to consider when you’re looking for the perfect accent chair for your living room.

How will the accent chair be used?

Will the chair get a lot of use, or is it going to be decorative? If you plan to use the chair, choose one that is sturdy and made of fabric that can withstand wear for many years. If it’s more for decorative use, you can consider style and design over construction.

Consider the style

Would you prefer a wingback or a club accent chair? A traditional chair or a trendy one? Think about the style that would well with work with your current décor. Perhaps, you’d like to bring a new look to your living room. Think about colours, patterns and styles. You will find a good source of vintage style furniture in trusted providers online, where you can shop at the comforts of your own home.

Consider comfort

Is the accent chair you want comfortable? If you’re going to use the chair, comfort trumps style.

Consider the scale

You’ll want to find an accent chair that will fit into your living room. You don’t want a chair that’s too big or too small. If the chair does not fit perfectly in the room, it’s just not going to work. The scale is just as important as comfort and style.

Think about the placement

Consider whether or not you still have adequate space for an accent chair in the room. You don’t want your living room to be too crowded by the time you place the chair. If you do need extra seats, try to rearrange your current furniture to make space for an accent chair.

Look at your current furnishings

If you’re already looking at a particular chair, will it complement the rest of the living room furniture? Does the chair look like it belongs? An accent chair should add seating, style and design to your room.

Consider what you can add to it

Finally, think about whether the accent chair you want will stand alone? Will you be able to add a throw or scatter cushion? Will you add a lamp and a side table? Perhaps, it will look good with a pole lamp or you can add artwork just above the chair. Look at the living room, not just in a particular area but as a whole. Think about all the extra pieces you can add that could go well with the chair.

Accent chairs often go well with a small table and lamp. Be sure to match these in size and scale and choose a lampshade colour that accents the chair and cushions, if you add them.

An accent chair is a perfect way to add extra seating and a lot of style to your living room. Whether it’s a standalone piece or blends in with the rest of your furnishings, you really can’t go wrong!
